Mr. Jeff Diehl

Jeff Diehl has over 25 years of systems engineering and architecting experience in the defense and intelligence sector, with over half of that time focused on satellite control networks.  After an enlisted tour in aircraft electronics, Jeff was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force and assigned to the original Space Wing managing the Air Force Satellite Control Network.  He was trained to troubleshoot anomalies on early warning satellites, championed integration of new space programs into the “network,” and worked on future space concepts.

Jeff retired from the AF Reserves in 2001, as an acquisition officer, with 22 years of combined active and reserve service.  Mr. Diehl participated in three national-level satellite control network architecture studies as a contractor.   He ultimately co-developed a major communications upgrade to the global network, created a very successful connectivity wall chart and became an early advocate for open and interoperable space systems.

Jeff’s expertise has broadened in recent years to include missile defense, unmanned aerial systems operations centers, counter Improvised Explosive Device technology, air domain security, net centric command and control systems, knowledge management, and the Department of Defense’s requirements and analysis processes. Jeff earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado and is a certified Federal Enterprise Architect.  He resides in Colorado Springs with wife Nancy and nearby adult children Jarrod and Alissa.
