Mr. Mark Edwards
For the past 6 years Mark Edwards has dedicated his engineering and business expertise to the start-up tactical wheeled vehicle manufacturer Force Protection Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:FRPT) located in Charleston, South Carolina. Beginning in early 2004 with sales of less than $10M, Edwards assembled a team of engineering and manufacturing professionals that successfully developed and commercialized a range of mine protected tactical wheeled vehicles now commonly known as the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) family of vehicles. With annual sales now in excess of $1B, Force Protection has lead the tactical vehicle industry in innovations that has caused long-term fundamental change in the international tactical wheeled vehicle industry that has resulted in effective protection for countless U.S. and allied servicemen and women from Improvised Explosive Devices (I.E.D.) used commonly by insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan.
At the end of 2009 Edwards left his full time position as Executive Vice President, Engineering and Product Development for Force Protection. Edwards now provides technical and defense industry consultancy services to a variety of defense companies and small defense business mentoring services.
Prior to Force Protection, Edwards worked in the aerospace industry on numerous programs from startup through sustainment and reset. He provided divisional executive engineering and manufacturing leadership for Ducommon Inc. (NASDAQ:DCO), a Tier 1 aerospace supplier, on the C17, F/A18, F22, and space shuttle programs.
Edwards has a B.S. in Mathematics from Wright State University and an MBA from Pepperdine University where he graduated magna cum laude.
